Metal roofs are virtually impervious to the most devastating weather events, including wind-driven rain, snow, ice, hail, extreme heat, hurricane force winds, freeze/thaw cycles and even fire. Our Hail, Fire & Wind ratings listed below are the absolute highest in the industry!

  • Class 4 hail warranty (2 1/2” hail stones)
  • Class “A” fire rating
  • 200 KPH wind warranty (F2 Hurricane)

All of the metal roof systems at Metal Roof Outlet are lightweight – less than half the weight of asphalt shingles – and can be installed on new constructions with conventional trusses or re-roofed over most existing roofs.

Today’s metal roofs have come a long way from first generation barnyard looks, offering new durable and fade-resistant textures and finishes. Roofs are surfaced with ceramic-coated, colored minerals that are fade resistant and come in warm, natural-looking, textured blends.

Contrary to popular belief, you can walk on a metal roof without causing damage. It is important that you keep a couple things in mind when doing so:

  1. Always wear rubber-soled or similar soft soled shoes when walking on a metal roof. This prevents any coating or paint damage and it also gives you a more secure footing.
  2. You should always walk where the panels join up and are supported by strapping or the overlap of the panels themselves. Never walk in the middle of a panel.

Metal roofs are perfectly safe during lightning storms. Metal conducts electricity, it does not attract it. Your chance of a lightning strike is absolutely no more likely if you have a metal roof. In the event of a strike, steel roofs provide homes with the ultimate protection as the energy safely dissipates throughout the entire roof surface, and since they are not combustible or flammable, they are an even safer choice.

Agricultural and first-line ribbed metal roofing on an open truss can be subject to rain noise but the more sophisticated styles with intricate profiles are no noisier than traditional asphalt, and some stone-coated metal roofs actually buffer the vibrations in the panel, eliminating any kind of drumming effect

Yes, initially, but mid- to long-term it’s an impressive investment and since they will outlive at least four or five asphalt roofs, their price is one of the best deals available. See our Savings Analysis to learn more!

Metal roofs save money by never having to be replaced, are maintenance-free and save on energy costs. High-albedo roofs or “cool metal roofs” can reduce air-conditioning energy use. They are very reflective, lower the absorption of solar energy, reduce surface temperatures, and decrease heat transfer into the building. Homes with asphalt roofs soak up summer heat all day and continue to transfer heat into the building for hours after sunset while metal roofs not only cool instantly at dusk, they also reflect most of the sun’s heat throughout the day. All the Facts Under One Roof: Energy Efficient

Metal roofs are an ideal base for solar panel installations. Rooftop solar panels have a life of 20-25 years, so make sure you have a roof that can support them throughout their lifespan. Traditional shingles are one of the worst roofing options for solar panel installations: asphalt roofs typically need to be replaced after 10-15 years, so it’s highly likely you will need to disassemble and later remount the solar panels at your expense in order to replace your roof. Additionally, with traditional shingles the mounting racks will need to pass through the asphalt to anchor in structural pieces like trusses, which entails drilling through the roof and can result in leaks and splitting. Fortunately, standing-seam metal roofs provide sturdy ridges to which solar panel mounting racks can fasten, and certain solar panels can be mounted to metal roofs with an adhesive backing. There are also fastening options for stone-coated metal roofs which preserve the integrity of the structure beneath. Metal roofs often last 50 years or more, allowing you plenty of time to complete two solar panel lifecycles before needing to replace your roof.
